Hudson High School Earns High Marks on US News Ranking

Hudson High School has been recognized among the nation’s best in the 2026-27 U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings.

The school is ranked No. 19 among Iowa high schools and No. 1 compared to neighboring conference schools. It earned the No. 2 ranking in the Cedar Valley and No. 2,987 nationally.

“We are honored to once again be recognized as a top-performing high school,” said Hudson Schools Superintendent Dr. Tony Voss. “At the same time, these results are unsurprising, as this is what we have come to expect here. This recognition validates numerous metrics that, time and again, prove that families can count on Hudson Schools to deliver on the promise of a high-quality education. Indeed, this is a testament to the tradition of excellence we have built over time. Our entire faculty, staff, and students are to be commended for their hard work and commitment to high academic achievement.”

Hudson High School has a graduation rate of 98 percent, well above the state average. The school also provides students with opportunities to take Advanced Placement (AP) courses and exams, which play a key role in college readiness. Its AP participation rate is 43 percent.

Rankings from U.S. News are based on multiple factors, including performance on state assessments, graduation rates, and how well schools prepare students for college.
