Hudson FFA Says “Thank You” to Local Farmers on National Farmers Day
Members of the Hudson FFA Chapter celebrated National Farmers Day on October 12 by showing their appreciation to local farmers through the chapter’s annual “Thank a Farmer” activity.
FFA members prepared sack lunches filled with food and treats for area farmers as a simple way to recognize the hard work, dedication, and long hours that go into producing food and supporting the agricultural industry. Along with each lunch, farmers received a handwritten note from an FFA member expressing gratitude and offering well wishes during the busy harvest season.
The activity gives Hudson FFA members an opportunity to personally thank the men and women who play such an important role in their local communities, the agricultural economy, and feeding people around the world.
“This activity is about more than simply handing out lunches,” said Hudson FFA Advisor Dennis Deppe. “It gives our members an opportunity to give back to the community that supports them throughout the year. We want our students to understand the importance of service, gratitude, and recognizing the hard work of the farmers who are the foundation of our agricultural community.”
This year, Hudson FFA partnered with three local cooperatives to help distribute the lunches to farmers throughout the area: Mid-Iowa Cooperative in Hudson, Buckingham Cooperative, and Heartland Co-op in Traer.
“Thank a Farmer” has become a meaningful way for Hudson FFA members to recognize the people who work behind the scenes every day to keep agriculture moving forward. The chapter appreciates the continued support of local farmers, businesses, cooperatives, and community members who help make activities such as this possible.
Hudson FFA members are proud to celebrate National Farmers Day and extend a sincere thank-you to all area farmers for their commitment to agriculture, their communities, and feeding the world.
