Obituary: Blanche Haberstich

Blanche Mary Wilson Haberstich, 98, died Friday, December 5, 2025, while a resident at Martin Suites  Western Home Community. She was born on February 20, 1927, in Brandon, Iowa, the daughter of Fred Wilson and  Agnes Sauer Wilson. Blanche married Glenn Haberstich on April 11, 1945, and the couple was blessed with six  children.

Blanche loved her family. She loved raising her children, helping with her grandchildren, and watching  other children when she was needed. She was the family daycare provider. Blanche always said she needed to get to  Heaven because there were so many children waiting there who needed to be held. She always had a huge garden  that provided for the family, but that required the kids to work. Every Friday, Blanche and her sister, Myrtle, would  go grocery shopping. They would run all over town getting the best prices and using coupons but spend a tank of gas  in the process. Blanche was a very forgiving person who always demonstrated unconditional love. Friends of the  kids always hung out at her house, and she was the adopted mother to many.

Blanche is survived by her children, David (Judy) Haberstich of North Fork, CA, Diana (Walt) Weber of  Hudson, Dennis (Donna) Haberstich of Lincoln, NE, Dale (Jan) Haberstich of Waterloo; Dixie (Scott) Langton of  Reinbeck, and Denise (David) Sterner of Waterloo; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Benjamin Wilson of Shell Rock and Charles Wilson of Tampa, FL; and many other  family members and friends. She was preceded by her husband, Glenn, sisters Myrtle Leyen, Jennie Carpenter, and  Anna Marie Vincent, and brothers Fred, Raymond, Edward, Robert, and Guy Wilson.

Services were held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave,  Waterloo, with burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo.
