Hudson High School’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter delivered an impressive performance at the 2026 State Leadership Conference in Cedar Rapids, highlighted by continued leadership at the state level.
Senior Ken Kane concluded his term representing Hudson and District 1 as an Iowa FBLA state officer, serving as District 1 vice president during the 2025-26 school year. Continuing that momentum, sophomore Klark Kane was elected as the 2026-27 District 1 vice president, ensuring Hudson’s presence in state leadership for another year.
Klark Kane ran a campaign centered on community service, equal opportunities for members and support for new and smaller chapters. Reflecting on his election, Klark said, “FBLA has been one of the best parts of my high school career so far. I’m very excited to have the opportunity to now serve at the state level and have the chance to make a larger impact on our district and state.”
With Klark elected as the next District 1 vice president, he will continue the legacy of Hudson FBLA.
Hudson’s chapter, now in its fourth year, continues to show steady growth and impact. Throughout the school year, members hold fundraisers, such as the chili supper, and connect with local businesses. Hudson also hosted the District 1 Leadership Conference this past December.
Hudson is one of 184 high school chapters active across the state. The high school division of Iowa FBLA includes more than 3,000 members. At this year’s State Leadership Conference, about 1,200 of those members gathered in Cedar Rapids from March 29-31.
The conference provided students with opportunities to compete, develop leadership skills and connect with peers, while Hudson’s representation reflected the chapter’s continued commitment to involvement and growth.
As a state officer during the 2025-26 school year, Ken Kane worked to improve the experiences of FBLA members. He visited chapters across District 1, networked with members at the State Fall Leadership Conference, planned the District 1 Leadership Conference and met with legislators to advocate for career and technical education.
After his time as a state officer, Ken said, “Without FBLA, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. FBLA has taught me confidence and what true leadership looks like. During my time as District 1 vice president, I made amazing friendships that will last a lifetime and gained valuable business skills.”
