Kid’s Adventure wraps up another summer of fun in Hudson

Another successful season of Kid’s Adventure came to a close at the end of July after nine weeks filled with activities, field trips and summer fun for local children.

The annual summer program provided participants with a wide variety of experiences throughout the season. Each week featured at least one field trip, while Wednesdays were reserved for the program’s popular “Water Wednesday” outings.

After enjoying sack lunches together, students and staff traveled by bus to a nearby community pool each Wednesday afternoon. When rainy weather interrupted swimming early in the summer, the group made the most of it by visiting the Traer Theatre for a movie instead.

Throughout the summer, participants explored a variety of destinations, including the Cedar Falls Police and Fire departments, the Hearst Center for the Arts’ Youth Pavilion, the Cedar Valley Arboretum & Botanic Gardens, Palmer’s Family Fun and several other locations.

For two weeks in July, students also traveled to Reinbeck each morning to participate in swimming lessons.

The program served 60 children this summer and was supported by a dedicated staff that included several Hudson High School students. Two college-aged students served as director and assistant director, helping lead the program throughout the nine-week session.

With another summer in the books, Kid’s Adventure once again provided Hudson youth with opportunities to learn, explore and build friendships while creating lasting memories.
