Soo Line: Time for a quiz about your presidential smarts (Because, by George, Presidents Day is Feb. 16)
by Soo Greiman
Think you still remember what you learned in school about U.S. presidents? Let’s find out.
As a kid at Orange Elementary School, February meant learning about two of our favorite presidents — Abraham Lincoln and George Washington — whose birthdays fall just 10 days apart. Lincoln was born Feb. 12, and Washington on Feb. 22.
In 1968, Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act, which shifted several federal holidays to Mondays. The change took effect in 1971, officially creating Presidents Day on the third Monday in February and giving Americans a three-day weekend.
Maybe it’s just me, but it sometimes feels like we don’t give Lincoln and Washington quite the attention they deserve now that their birthdays are combined. But that’s just one opinion.
So here’s your challenge for 2026 — a Presidents Day trivia quiz covering history, fun facts and modern presidents. Honest Abe would approve. Test your all-American brain and see how many of these 12 questions you can get right.
