Pirate XC Tackles Two Meets in the Heat

Pirate XC Tackles Two Meets in the Heat

by Jill Steele

The week of Sept. 22 brought two meets for the Hudson Pirate cross country teams, and  the heat didn’t let up. With temperatures reaching into the 80s, running conditions were  far from ideal—but the Pirates pushed through the sweat and sun to deliver strong  performances at both meets. The teams competed at Denver on Monday and at the Sam  Iverson Invite in Grundy Center on Thursday. For the junior high teams, it marked their  first full week of competition and valuable experience.

The standout runner of the week was senior Mollie Hansen, who finished as runner-up at  both meets against very competitive fields.
