Obituary: David E. Rogers
David E. Rogers, 82, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, surrounded by family.
Born on March 27, 1943, to Earl and Arvella Rogers, Dave moved to Hudson in the fall of 1959. At 6'4", he was an instant fit on the Hudson Pirates basketball team, helping take them to the State Tournament.
Known affectionately as "Bear," due to his imposing stature and grizzly beard, Dave was a man who appreciated the simple things. He was known for his love of motorcycles, and the hunt for a unique antique. Above all, he was a devoted family man, celebrating 64 years of marriage with his beloved wife.
Dave is survived by his wife Sandi Rogers, brother Dale Rogers; his children, Cheryl McGlumphy, Chris Taylor, Stephanie Potts, and Braden Rogers; and a large, loving legacy of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
In keeping with Dave’s private nature, he requested that no public visitation or funeral be held. To honor his memory, his family gathered privately to share one of his favorite meals— complete with "desserts a plenty"—and spent the evening sharing the stories and laughter that defined his 82 years.
