Northeast Iowa Food Bank Calls for Community Pledges in Final Push to Complete $14 Million Capacity Campaign

The Northeast Iowa Food Bank is asking individuals, families, businesses, and organizations across northeast Iowa to make a pledge to its $14 million Capacity Campaign as the organization works to secure the final commitments needed to bring the campaign across the finish line.

The Food Bank made that plea Thursday morning while hosting approximately 150 community leaders for Grow Cedar Valley’s Good Morning Cedar Valley event at its expanded and renovated Waterloo facility. During the event, Northeast Iowa Food Bank Executive Director Barbara Prather called on those in attendance and the broader community to help finish the campaign by making a pledge.

From Hunger to Hope: Pledge for More is focused specifically on securing new pledges to complete the campaign. A pledge allows donors to make their commitment now and fulfill their gift over time, making it possible to support the campaign at a level that may not be possible through a one-time gift. “We need our community to make their commitment now,” said Prather.

“We are pushing to the end of the campaign, and every dollar helps us provide more food to the community where food insecurity is higher than it has been in more than a decade. Pledging now will assist us in finishing this campaign and prepare the Food Bank to provide more food for years to come.”

Construction on the Food Bank's expanded and renovated Waterloo facility is nearing completion, but the fundraising campaign is not finished. The Food Bank is asking the public to help close the remaining funding gap by making pledges now.
