More than 500 served at Hudson Chamber of Commerce Annual Chili Appreciation Supper

More than 500 people were served during the Hudson Chamber of Commerce’s annual Chili Appreciation Supper on Friday, Sept. 25, continuing a longtime tradition of bringing the community together before a Friday night of Pirate football.

The free meal featured chili, loose-meat sandwiches, desserts and drinks, made possible through the efforts of Chamber members, local businesses and community volunteers.

Following the supper, more than 3 pounds of leftover loose-meat sandwich meat was donated to the Catholic Worker House, while a roaster of chili was donated to the Hudson Fire Department.

Hudson Chamber Vice President Zach Smith credited the event’s success to the many people and organizations that helped make the evening possible, including Paul and the staff at Randall’s for providing assistance with tables, chairs, coolers, beverages and other supplies; the Hudson Fire Department for its cooperation; the staff at Lincoln Savings Bank for assisting during the meal and providing space to store supplies.

Smith also thanked Whitney Burke, Jeff Baker and volunteers from Colwell; Chamber volunteers who contributed their time throughout the event; and Dianne Schneider and the women from St. Timothy’s United Methodist Church, who helped prepare the chili and assisted with cleanup.

“This was the best organized and executed chili supper I’ve been a part of in my 11 years with the Chamber,” Smith said. “Can’t thank everyone enough. Can’t say how proud I am of the community for always showing out.”
