The Hudson girls cross country team raced their way to a state berth last Thursday at the Class 1A state qualifying meet at North Linn. The Pirates claimed the district championship and officially earned their 10th consecutive trip to the state meet.
The team will compete in the Iowa High School Cross Country State Championships in Fort Dodge on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m.
The Pirates were led by a dominant performance from district champion Mollie Hansen, with teammate Ella Steele close behind as the runner-up. All seven Hudson runners finished in the top 20 to secure the championship.
• Reese Hansen – 6th
• Rebecca Vidal – 13th
• Ella Annis – 14th
• Reagan Lewis – 19th
• Desarae Lang – 20th
On the boys’ side, Hudson capped off a strong season with a 6th-place team finish. Many of the Pirate boys ended their season with personal records:
• Aaden Myhr – 17th
• Jacob Culham – 31st
• Colten Jensen – 37th
• Drake Griffin – 39th
• Zion Simmer – 67th
• Bowen Backes – 73rd
• Isaac Slade – 80th
The Pirates’ consistent success has made Hudson a name to watch in Iowa cross country.
Good luck to the girls at state — run fast, Pirates!
