Hudson Girls Cross Country Punches Ticket to State for 10th Straight Year

The Hudson girls cross country team raced their way to a state berth last Thursday at the  Class 1A state qualifying meet at North Linn. The Pirates claimed the district championship and  officially earned their 10th consecutive trip to the state meet.  

The team will compete in the Iowa High School Cross Country State Championships in  Fort Dodge on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m.  

The Pirates were led by a dominant performance from district champion Mollie Hansen,  with teammate Ella Steele close behind as the runner-up. All seven Hudson runners finished in  the top 20 to secure the championship.

• Rebecca Vidal – 13th  

• Ella Annis – 14th  

• Reagan Lewis – 19th  

• Desarae Lang – 20th  

On the boys’ side, Hudson capped off a strong season with a 6th-place team finish.  Many of the Pirate boys ended their season with personal records:  

• Aaden Myhr – 17th  

• Jacob Culham – 31st  

• Colten Jensen – 37th  

• Drake Griffin – 39th  

• Zion Simmer – 67th  

• Bowen Backes – 73rd  

• Isaac Slade – 80th  

The Pirates’ consistent success has made Hudson a name to watch in Iowa cross  country.
