Helping Hands: Dave Murray Brightens Up Pirate Field

Helping Hands: Dave Murray Brightens Up Pirate Field

By Danielle McCulley

After attending a Hudson Pirates football game, longtime Hudson resident Dave Murray noticed  the field goal posts could use a little fresh paint. Instead of just mentioning it, he volunteered to  take on the project himself.

Murray told Hudson athletic director Kevin Wurzer that if the school purchased the paint, he’d  gladly do the job. Thanks to Hudson Hardware Plumbing & Heating donating the use of a lift,  Murray was able to reach the top and carefully coat the posts with a fresh layer of bright yellow.

What started as a simple idea turned into a community effort—and now the Pirates’ field goals  shine a little brighter thanks to the generosity and dedication of one Good Samaritan.
