Frosh Claim First Tournament Win as All Levels of HUDVB Secure Titles
By Zac Ceresa
The Hudson freshman volleyball team traveled to South Tama over the weekend and came home with their first tournament championship of the season. With the victory, all three levels of HUDVB—freshman, junior varsity, and varsity—have now won tournament titles this year, a possible first in program history.
The Pirates were led by sophomore Alissa Leary and freshmen Jordyn Rhoades, Maci Ingles, and Kenley Ites. Sophomore Makayla Shirk and freshman Elle Gunnarson helped set up scoring opportunities, while Joslyn Anderson made key plays from the middle to boost Hudson’s momentum.
Up next, Hudson Volleyball will team up with the Hudson Athletic Boosters and the Hudson Athletic Department for a special fundraiser event: Ace Out ALS, taking place Tuesday, Sept. 30.
The night will feature a full slate of volleyball action, a bake sale, and free admission for all youth players who attended the July HUDVB camp. A special recognition will be held for the Wolfe family. Tim Wolfe is currently battling ALS, and the Hudson Volleyball program invites the community to rally in support.
Match Schedule:
• 5:30 p.m. — Hudson vs. East Marshall
• 6:30 p.m. — East Marshall vs. Jesup
• 7:30 p.m. — Hudson vs. ranked Jesup
Fans are encouraged to wear their Ace Out ALS shirts or dress in red, white and blue.
