Cross Country Teams Compete in Tough NICL Conference Meet

On Thursday, Oct. 17, Hudson’s junior high and high school cross country teams  traveled to Oelwein for the NICL Conference Meet—home of one of the most competitive  lineups in the state.  

The varsity girls team finished 5th overall, a strong showing against eight state-ranked  NICL teams. Leading the Pirates were:  

• Mollie Hansen (2nd) and Ella Steele (9th) – First Team All-Conference  

• Reese Hansen (16th) – Second Team All-Conference  

Other varsity girls:  

• Reagan Lewis (PR – 42nd)  

• Rebecca Vidal (51st)  

• Ella Annis (52nd)  

• Desarae Lang (56th)  

The varsity boys placed 9th, led by:  

• Aaden Myhr (PR – 31st)  

• Jacob Culham (40th)  

• Drake Griffin (51st)  

• Colten Jensen (62nd)  

• Zion Simmer (PR – 63rd)  

• Isaac Slade (74th)  

• Bowen Backes (PR – 75th)  

In JV action, the girls placed 4th, led by:  

• Megan Steele (5th) – First Team All-Conference  

• Maci Rose and Kate Strayer – Second Team All-Conference  

Top JV boys were Steven Dekutoski and Carter Swanson.  

For the junior high teams, the girls finished 4th, highlighted by:  

• Syndie Beenken (7th)  

• Avery Rose (8th)  

• Taryn Junker (16th)  

The junior high boys had an impressive 3rd place team finish, with top runners:  • Logan Reger (10th)  

• Beckett Hansen (26th)  

• Chase Klingaman (32nd)  

Next up: the varsity teams travel to North Linn on Thursday, Oct. 23, to compete for a  trip to the State Cross Country Meet in Fort Dodge. Good luck to all Pirate runners—run fast!
