Ceresa Era Begins: Hudson Volleyball Looks Ahead

The Hudson Pirate varsity volleyball team kicked off the 2025 season with momentum, earning a preseason No. 14 ranking in Class 2A and notching a 12-6 record so far. Their early season highlights include a tournament championship at Starmont and an upset victory over Class 1A ranked Dunkerton.
With five impactful varsity players graduated, new head coach Zac Ceresa is focused on building the next chapter of Hudson volleyball.
“Our athletes worked hard all summer to earn that preseason ranking,” Ceresa said. “It doesn’t define us, but it definitely validates all the work they’ve put in.”
Hudson’s volleyball program is showing depth across all levels, from seventh and eighth grade —led by coaches Kennedy Killian and Maggie Christopher—to the freshman and junior varsity squads under coaches Amanda Ingles and Carlee Grunder.
The Pirates return to home court Monday, Sept. 16, to face defending state champion Denver. Fans are encouraged to dress for the match’s beach-themed “tropical night.
