Catching up with 2025 HEF Scholarship Recipient Ella Hiatt

Ella Hiatt, 2025 recipient of a HEF General Fund and Lincoln Savings Bank scholarship, is currently studying nursing at Hawkeye Community College. After obtaining her associate's degree, she plans on transferring to Allen College for her bachelor's degree. While attending classes, Ella has stayed busy working two part time jobs and has enjoyed meeting new people and learning important information  she will be using in her future nursing career.

Ella shared that she was honored receiving two HEF scholarships last spring.  "Groups like the Hudson Educational Fund are very important for young people like me, because they allow students to attend college with less worry about how they will pay for tuition and other expenses that come along. I am very grateful for the  scholarships that I received and I will continue working hard each day in my studies to

put the money I received to good use," she stated. Finally, Ella encouraged Hudson students to apply for as many scholarships as possible. While making plans for her  future education, she was advised by many people in her life to take advantage of the  amazing opportunities scholarships bring and they have proven to positively impact  her first year of college.

All Hudson seniors and current college students are encouraged to apply for the 2026 HEF scholarships. They must be submitted on Canvas by Thursday, February  12th, 2026. The application can be found at http://hudsonpiratepride.com under the Grades 7-12 link.
