Candidate Q&A: Hector Baldiviezo - Mayor
1. Why are you running for this office, and what do you hope to accomplish during your term?
I’m running for mayor because I care deeply about Hudson and the people who make this town such a great place to live and raise a family. I’ve had the privilege of serving as President of the Hudson Chamber and as a member of the Hudson Education Fund, and through those roles I’ve seen the impact strong leadership and collaboration can have. My goal is to keep Hudson moving forward responsibly…by strengthening our budget, reducing wasteful spending and finding smart ways to attract new businesses that enhance our downtown and quality of life.
2. What do you see as the most important issue facing Hudson right now? The most important issue facing Hudson is maintaining financial responsibility while continuing to grow. As our community expands, it’s essential that we manage our budget wisely…investing where it truly benefits residents and eliminating unnecessary spending. We also need to be proactive in supporting local businesses and creating opportunities for new ones, ensuring Hudson remains vibrant for years to come.
3. What experience or perspective do you bring that you believe will benefit the city? My experience leading the Hudson Chamber gave me firsthand insight into the needs and challenges of our local businesses, and serving on the Hudson Education Fund has reinforced how vital strong schools and families are to our town’s success. I bring a practical, team-oriented approach to leadership: someone who listens, builds consensus and focuses on long-term sustainability rather than short-term fixes.
4. How will you help improve communication and transparency between the city and residents?
Transparency starts with open communication. I want residents to feel informed, heard and part of the process. That means improving how we share information…whether through city updates, social media or public meetings. It’s important we make sure every resident has an easy way to ask questions or share concerns. I believe in leadership that listens first and communicates clearly.
5. What does respectful leadership look like to you in local government? Respectful leadership means leading with integrity, listening with empathy and treating every resident’s voice as valuable. It’s about collaboration over confrontation…finding common ground even when opinions differ. In a small town like Hudson, we all share the same goal: keeping our community strong, safe, and welcoming.
6. Is there anything else you’d like voters to know?
Hudson is home for me and my family. My wife and I are raising our four kids here and we care deeply about this community’s future. I’m committed to being a steady, approachable leader who puts people first…someone who listens, works hard and makes decisions that keep Hudson a place we’re all proud to call home.
