Boys Golf: Pirates Tee Off Season With 4-1 Start

The 2026 Hudson boys golf season is underway, and the Pirates are off to a strong start  with a 4-1 record.  

Hudson returns a solid core of experienced golfers while also adding several new faces  to the roster. The Pirates have 17 players out this season: seniors Justin Gavigan, Preston  Olson and Cooper Steele; juniors Blake Delagardelle, Preston Germain, Gavin Gunnarson,  Mason McClelland and Brenner Wetzel; sophomores Knox Carter, Emmett Eige, Rylan Fogt, Ty  Halupnick, Jax Petersen and Tripp Thompson; and freshmen Colton Kliegl and Mac Schrader.

The season opened Thursday, April 9, at Grundy Center. Team scores were Grundy  Center 160, Hudson 170 and Jesup 174. Hudson’s scores were Blake Delagardelle 41, Preston  Germain 41, Tripp Thompson 43, Ty Halupnick 45, Gavin Gunnarson 52 and Preston Olson 54.  

The Pirates bounced back the next day, hosting Oelwein and AGWSR at South Hills  Golf Course in Waterloo. Hudson won the triangular with a team score of 163, followed by  AGWSR (175) and Oelwein (183). Individual scores for Hudson were Delagardelle 35,  Thompson 42, Gunnarson 43, Germain 43, Halupnick 55 and Olson 62. Delagardelle shot a 1- under-par 35 to earn medalist honors.  

Hudson hosted Dike-New Hartford on Monday, April 13, again at South Hills. The  Pirates won the dual 173-189. Hudson’s scores were Delagardelle 39, Thompson 42,  Gunnarson 45, Germain 47, Halupnick 47 and Olson 49. Delagardelle earned medalist honors,  while Thompson was runner-up medalist.
